Title: Solace

Summary: Veronica is having a bad day.
On the good days, Veronica doesn't feel broken. She feels like all the pieces have been put back together, like the cracks are fusing, and she just needs a few more hours, a few more days, to be herself again.
But today isn't a good day. The jibes are cruel, and Wallace isn't around, and there's nowhere to turn that isn't sharp and bright.
Later, when she calls Weevil, she doesn't even know why. But when he rolls up beside her and their eyes meet, she sees that ageless compassion he always seems to have, just under that layer of biker bravado, and she understands.
His mouth is sweet and gentle. His body is solid, an anchor in a storm of sorrow. Everything about him is committed and sincere in a way that nothing has been for a long, long time. It won't last, but it's less dangerous than the sweet oblivion of alcohol that could turn her into her mother's daughter, and his mouth and arms bring that same blur to the edges of her sharp and painful world.
So she welcomes Weevil's lips on hers, the thick arms that circle her protectively. She realizes this is a weakness she can't afford, and she doesn't care. Not yet. She can worry and regret later. Right now she just wants to be with someone who knows what he wants and who he is, one who treats her carefully, but with full knowledge of the contradictions that define her: the hard and the soft, the weakness and the strength. He is what she never knew she always needed. He's the most whole, complete person she knows, and he's the only one that can hold the pieces together when they start to fall away.
She'll worry about it tomorrow, this completely right mistake. Then, she'll recreate herself with the sarcastic mask and the banter.
But this afternoon, for a few moments, she'll let herself hurt and be comforted. She'll loosen the dark barrier of distrust that she's wrapped around herself, like a blanket against the cold of betrayal. Because Weevil can't tell anyone about this, either, and he'd have no proof anyway, and she needs this like air, or water—this harsh and gentle intimacy that makes her finally feel something other than grief.

I must say that this piece is excellent. I had a Veroninca/Weevil dream last night and now I'm aching for some fics. Any other recs? Anyways, is it okay if I add you to my f-list? Most of my "people" are Logan/Veronica shippers and sometimes I just gotta be with others who ship WeeVer.
Do you have any other fics? I tried checking your Memories section, but somehow LJ won't let me access it.

First off, the memories thing has been on the fritz and it annoyed me, so I just listed all my fics here. Check under the Veronica Mars section, I've got about 5 of them now, I think.

Mala's Fic
I really loved the Washed in the Blood series. It does have V/Lamb as a pairing, too, but I still recommend it. V/L really squicked me until then, but she develops it beautifully, and there's lovely Weevil stuff in there, too.

Also, there's a small WeeVer fic site, here. It doesn't have a huge amount of good fic on it, but it's growing.

It stinks that there's so little WeeVer fic out there. But I'm going to find you the good stuff and hook you up. Because, seriously. There can NEVER be enough WeeVer!!!
And at the risk of sounding...I dunno, like a total egotistical dweeb, I have a few more fics that have WeeVer in them. One is a total crack!fic foursome-type fest, so it's not everyone's cup of tea, and it does have slash in it (Logan/Duncan and mild Weevil/Logan), so yeah, if you're not into that don't read it...anyhow, that one is Nostalgia. There's also one that's more a friendship type fic, but has overtones of WeeVer. That's The Fine Line Between Friends and Enemies. And the last one takes a while to get to the WeeVer, and it's not the focus of the story, but it's there, so depending on how bad the withdrawl is, it might be worth doing. That one is, Home Is Where the Heart Is. And my shameless self-pimping must be taken with a grain of salt, because I honestly won't be offended if you don't run off and read those with baited breath. Just wanted to let you know.
And I'm going to be doing a rec post very soon with some AWESOME WeeVer in it, so hang tight! There is great WeeVer, coming your way!

He's the most whole, complete person she knows
I love that line. What an insight! It's counterintuitive, but true - he knows who he is, a lot more so than any of the other characters.

This was my very first fic with the two of them, so I was just trying to get a feel for them and explore the kind of relationship they might have. I'm glad it rings true for you! The thing about Weevil that has always struck me is how honest he is to himself about who he is and where he's from. He had no delusions, really. It isn't always pretty, but he does know who he is.

I think that's what's so appealing about the character. It takes a certain kind of inner strength to really face who you are when it isn't pretty. That's why I love his scenes with Logan so much - such a contrast. Logan is utterly uncomfortable in his own skin. Veronica is sort of half-way between - she knows who she is, I think, but she doesn't see the need to make her outside match her inside where other people are concerned.
And I totally hope you can make sense of that!

I kind of feel sad that they never had the chance to be together durng the series.
